Shaun Bought A 325 Hp 396 1968 El Camino That Has Been Sitting For 11 Years And Like Everyone On The Internet Is Seeing What It Will Take To Run

Everybody on YouTube seems to be finding old cars and then attempting to make them run. It makes me laugh because I’ve been telling people for decades that unless an engine is actually seized, they will run if they were running when parked. Maybe not mint, but they will run. Folks always think I’m crazy and think you need to pull the distributor and prelube them and all that. And I guess if the engine is something you really care about in the long run, sure, but if not then a few squirts of lube and good fuel will make them run usually. Maybe an accelerator pump, but that’s usually about all it needs. So I’m pretty confident that making this awesome big block El Camino a running machine won’t take a lot of work. With that said, since it is a real big block car and Shaun cares about that, he’s going to be nice to it instead of just throwing fuel at it.

I’m jealous of Shaun, for getting this thing, cause I seriously dig 68-72 El Caminos and have always wanted a big block car that was super low with some tire out back. A 28×10.50 looks awesome under these things, and a big block is what every one of them should have under the hood. Anyone think I’m wrong?

At any rate, this one is cool and Shaun is pretty excited about it so lets see if he gets it running for some fun.

I’m an El Camino freak. I’m glad they brought it back to life so that it can live on again.

I had a friend in high school with a 1971 that was a doughnut turning machine!

I’d love a 68-72 but so many of them had vinyl tops that rust the metal out from underneath, especially along the top of the windshield.

What I like about Shaun is: He goes & looks at his own stuff to buy & fix up. He don’t sent his #2 out scouting the Mechum auctions & just grabbing a high $ resto & is probably crap under the glossy paint – Go Shaun!!!! Check out ‘187 Customs’ on yoo-tube – well worth the time!
