Of all the cool stuff we have laid eyes on at SEMA, PRI, and the events we have hit so far, nothing has totally taken our breath away like Mike Moran’s newest engine creation. Moran’s Motor City Bullet series of engines is off to an impressive start with a 100% billet, 637ci Hemi that is capable of making 4,400 hp in race trim with the right turbos and boost levels. At the PRI Show we talked to one of Moran’s guys who said that a few of the engines have been sold already and headed overseas. In the video below, we see a new car that will house one of these beasts and it wears a Chevelle body. The chassis under that Chevelle skin was designed by Moran and Jerry Bickel. We assume that Bickel’s shop produced the car.

Every piece of this engine from the top of the intake manifold to the valve covers, block, crank, rods, pistons, etc is billet. Moran claims that it is the first all billet engine ever. We can’t take a stand against that claim because we have no evidence that he is wrong. Like all monster power plants from top fuel to pro mod, the trick isn’t so much about making the power, but using it. Today’s chassis technology is allowing guys to run pro mods deep into the five second range in the quarter mile and into the middle three second range in the eighth mile. On paper, this engine makes significantly more power than anything else that currently exists in door slammer racing today. So help the drag racing world if Moran or one of his customers figures out a way to unleash the hounds in a productive manner. The numbers we know as “record setting” today will be quaint memories, left in the dust.

This is one Earth shaking monster!
