V8 Supercar racing is the whiskey-drinking, cocaine-snorting cousin of NASCAR that our friends Down Under live for. The cars are much closer to the real vehicles for sale, the drivers have similar mentalities but the track is narrower and in addition to the added corners there’s hills and sand traps that have a tendency to chew up and spit out Holdens and Fords like they were nothing. Wild stuff has gone down at Bathurst for decades, and this year’s race was no different, with spinouts, wrecks and of all things, a suicidal kangaroo making it’s way out onto the track. Wouldn’t want to be the clean-up crew for that.

Meanwhile, I’m actually upset that I missed out on watching it live, but it’s alright…there’s plenty to watch on YouTube. And one of my favorite channels is V8SupercarCrashGuys, who collect all of the really entertaining bits from the V8 Supercar series and turn them into YouTube clips. This particular one documents some of the stranger events that have occurred at the race, from a Falcon taking out the Medical Car Porsche Panamera (while improving it’s looks) to a driver stuffing his car while performing a victory drift while doing an in-car interview, it’s fourteen minutes of strange and interesting action from Australia.
