Who to believe? The internet “experts” that troll social media, or guys that put engines on they dyno each and every day and test them until the break? Yeah, we’re going for the guys that do the testing and know as well. Richard Holdener is one of the guys that tells it to you straight and tests the hell out of everything. Lucky for you he has put together a great list of 5 common turbo myths that he has debunked on several occasions. So check them out and let us know what you think.

Video Description:

COMMON TURBO MYTHS. ARE TWO SMALLER TURBOS MORE RESPONSIVE THAN 1 BIGGER SINGLE TURBO? DO I NEED TO RUN LOW COMPRESSION PISTONS? DOES MY TURBO MOTOR REQUIRE A FORGED CRANK, RODS AND PISTONS? DO I HAVE TO RUN A DEDICATED (TURBO SPECIFIC) CAM DESIGNED FOR BOOST? DO TURBOS ALL INHERENTLY HAVE TURBO LAG? IN THIS VIDEO I BREAK DOWN THESE COMMON MYTHS AND LET YOU KNOW WHY THESE ARE NOTHING MORE THAN MYTHS.

My fave turbo myth is that turbos work on exhaust pressure. The answer – only slightly. The turbo is spooled by the rapid expansion of exhaust gas as it cools leaving the port. When it cools it gets bigger – a lot bigger – and that expansion is where the energy comes from. Either way, pretty much free HP once you’ve bought the hardware and tuned it.
