Fantastic FE Video: Watch A 482ci All-Aluminum Ford FE Big Block Get Built From Beginning To End

There’s nothing like a good engine assembly video to make us happy and this is a GOOD engine assembly video. Our pal Jeff was at Prestige Motorsports when the shop was building a 482ci all-aluminum Ford FE big block for a customer. Using a Shelby block, Borla stack injection, and all the best parts you can think of, this is a Ford fan’s dream!

The FE engine family is one of my personal favorites. It was so incredibly long-lasting, diverse, and successful in racing that it’s impossible to argue against it’s efficacy during the 1960s. These things kicked ass in drag racing, they had the SOHC version that ran with the hemi engines on nitro, the high riser was as fearsome as anything that any other company was making, and it basically started as a little passenger car and truck engine that was engineered and improved real-time for a decade plus.

In this video you are going to get the full rundown of parts and pieces, all the specs, as well as the tips and tricks that are used putting this aluminum beast together.

The Borla stack injection may be expensive and yes carbs would have worked, but I’m not sure there’s a more beautiful topper to an engine like this one than the injection. It’ll look awesome and the FE will be a dream to drive with that setup.

Enjoy this engine building video. I know I did!

Have a friend who a few years back who had this exact engine sans the stack injection in continuation Cobra. As I recall the engine made about 580HP. Needless to say in a car weighing 2300-2400 lbs it was a beast.

Great reporting as usual. I would love to have one just like this. Wonder how much it weights?
