The Payoff: Watch The Time Lapse Hagerty Redline Rebuild Here – The Little Mini Engine Lives!

While we love sharing the installments of Hagerty Redline Rebuild engines, the real fun comes at the grand finale when the time lapse video of the build is released and we get to hear the finish product run. Well, for the 1.2L 1965 vintage Mini engine, this is that payoff.

If you remember, this engine was interesting for a bunch of reasons, most majorly was the fact that the thing had a massive gouge in the deck of the block that was discovered upon disassembly. It was at that point that the whole thing seemed like it could have been a lost cause. Thankfully, the machine shop was able to cut the deck and get rid of the gouge. Following that, assembly commenced and a transmission rebuild also took place.

We had never seen one of these engines apart and we had no idea that the transmission is effectively also the oil pan of the engine. The time lapse here is great and the fact is that Hagerty keeps raising the bar on these. Some of the camera angles and views we get are so unique and cool you may find yourself pausing like we did a couple of times.

The little car has a new heart and boy is this a fun and artistic look at how that all came to be.
