Ok, so this is the part where I express an opinion regarding a car I was tipped off to on eBay and then I’ll probably get an angry note from the seller of said car. Just a little “behind the scenes” look at how the deal usually goes down on this type of stuff. Anyway, what you are seeing before you is a really, really nice 1963 Ford Galaxie that is powered by a real deal SOHC engine that was originally purchased directly from Holman-Moody in the middle 1960s. The body is way good, the wheels and tires are a little small for our tastes, but the inside of this car is the part that we’re having a tough time choking down. According to the seller, the guy who built the car or the guy who had it built shot his cash wad early in the process with the big motor and great paint. When it came time to do the interior he was on a strict budget and it clearly shows.
Let’s start with the good. The engine is a legit 1966 built 427 SOHC mill that was purchased as a crate motor from Holman Moody in 1991. No expense was spared on the body work as the car appears to be virtually flawless from every angle. The seller is a dealer and he mentioned in the ad that when the car was originally built, the wallet behind the whole deal ran dry and was forced to go with a tweed interior to manage costs and keep them down. If the paint has held up flawlessely, you can say about the same for interior, but just the opposite. The weirdo 1990s steering wheel in the car and the four buckets swathed in the 1990s ever present tweed fabric are a bit of a time machine that I’d rather not revisit. Whack interior aside, I would love to own this car and convert it into a 10.5 drag machine while feeding that 427ci SOHC mill as much nitrous as is humanly possible.

Awesome!!!
Yeah, the interior needs a lot of e-bay work to return it to stock
The engine and body is off the charts greatness. The interior does need to be recovered though. It was probably nice when it was brand new. looks like it hasn’t worn very well.
I’d take it. The interior may not be great, but at least it’s not visually offensive. Removing the carpet from the steering column and a better steering wheel would go a long way.

??????????????
So he’s after about 70k Ill guess.
Love the car, but that whole interiour has to go. Rollcage and kirky seats and ready to rock and roll at nostalgia drags.
Some cash and some tan leather would fix up the guys real quick…I would rather a stock interior but i think whats in it now is not awful…would look much better trimmed in leather that matches the dash
I like the exterior, however the interior needs to go back to stock black to complete the look of the Galaxie for me.
Actually, the only interior option for a ’63 427 Galaxie was red vinyl……and it had these chrome inserts sewn into the vinyl……….in the Texas summer sun, I branded my appendages several times on those chrome accents as a kid. We actually had two of the 427 MR cars in the family in the late ’60s.
yeah the interior needs to be redone but I can over look it for the cammer engine those were awesome power plants way ahead of there time Id buy it yank the engine put a 460 or something less special in it and re sell the car to some clown like counts kustoms that flips these cars
At 180 mph not a soul can see the interior!
REALLY? Sure the interior is dated, but so what? This car is AWESOME! I’ll bet its a beast, turns heads and kills the quarter or the autocross. If I bought it, I might tweek a couple of things but not much, its not worth it. Maybe spray the grey carpet to black, but otherwise drive it like you stole it.
Autocross?
I like the whole car including the interior
The Pinto Front Suspension wrecks it for me.
Interior is a disaster. Late model interior with hideous steering stolen off Buick with that tilt column. Total gag fest. All of it needs to find a dumpster.
I’m purdy sure that is a Ford steering wheel. 99.99% certain it came from a Thunder-chicken.
Heres the Ebay link….Hasnt met reserve yet…http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Galaxie-427-HOLMAN-MOODY-CAMMER-600-HP-427-sohc-holman-moody-cammer-restomod-1963-1-2-ford-/190934501826?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2c749549c2&item=190934501826&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
I don’t see anything wrong with the interior in terms of wear and tear. In fact it seems to be done pretty well. It’s just not a great fit with such a traditional car. (and the steering wheel is not my taste either) Nevertheless, I wouldn’t kick it out of my garage. I’d change the steering wheel right off the bat and live with the rest.
Relisted, didn’t sell at 39K I have to agree, the interior does need to be brought up to the standard of the rest of the car. Semi modern is ok but wow that intertor seems late 80’s to me.
Its sure nice to see a far out ford, and not a chevy. to much.
Nice car, great motor, but the interior really does suck.
