What Makes A Blow Through Carburetor Different? Here’s What’s Inside And Why!

Electronic Fuel Injection, EFI, seems to be the rage with anyone adding boost nowadays, but the truth is there have been jillions of hot rods and race cars built with carburetors designed for boost. But I remember when a blow through carburetor wasn’t nearly as easy to find as it is today. I remember when carburetor enclosures were the thing instead, and they had their own challenges that just didn’t seem to add up usually. But why can’t you just bolt a hat onto the top of any old carburetor and throw the boost at it? Richard Holdener is about to tell us what is inside a real Blow Through Carburetor and why you need one for real boost. But why is he telling us all this? Well, it’s because he’s been testing on a dual supercharged combination and can’t seem to get enough fuel through it and into the engine to make the big power they know it is capable of.

The good thing about Richard having trouble is that he is telling us all about the symptoms, the solutions they tried, and the results. It’s a good way to learn some stuff since Richard isn’t afraid to spend the time on the dyno making big power pulls in the name of science.
